In line with advice provided by NSW Health, Oatley MP, Mark Coure, is calling on all eligible members of the St George region to get vaccinated to keep our community safe.
Mr Coure said that in his experience, the vaccination process was seamless, pain free and an important part in protecting the community from COVID-19.
"I have now received both doses of the Pfizer vaccine and I want to thank the fantastic health staff at St George Hospital for their professionalism throughout the vaccination process," Mr Coure said.
"The latest outbreak in NSW sheds light on the importance of having as many peopl vaccinated as possible to help reduce the risk of community transmission while protecting individuals and their families."
On the basis of advice from NSW Health and the Therapeutic Goods Administration, access to the AstraZeneca vaccine is being expanded to adults under 40, with informed consent.
"After extensive health research and medical investigation, adults aged between 18 and 39 are now eligible for the AstraZeneca vaccine and I encourage all individuals in this category to take the time to speak to their GP or health professional in the coming weeks," Mr Coure said."
NSW Health has also advised those who have had their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, with a second appointment not within the next four weeks, to bring their appointment forward.
"The updated health advice means that individuals will be able to protect themselves and the community sooner, with the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine now able to be taken six to eight weeks after the first dose."
Since February 2021, the NSW COVID-19 Vaccination Program has administered almost three million vaccine doses, with more than one million being directly administered by NSW Health.
