A former aged care facility on a prime site with ocean views opposite Elouera beach has been sold at auction, with approval already given for a luxury, multi-unit housing development.
Aged care provider Pathways bought Cronulla Seaside, in Girrilang Road fronting Mitchell Road, in 2008.
Residents were transferred from the 40-bed centre to a new and larger facility, Cronulla Pines, which the company completed at Sturt Road, Woolooware in 2016.
Sharp Development Sites sold the Girrilang Road property in an online auction on Wednesday.
The vendor requested the price not be disclosed.
A development application (DA) for three single level units with individual lifts and shared basement parking was approved in November last year.
The proposed development is permissible under R3 medium density zoning.
The DA said the preliminary construction cost was $3.5 million.
Units range in size from 162 square metres to 172 square metres.
"The design of the proposal responds well to the local context through the provision of new residential development on land zoned for medium-density development, which can facilitate suitable housing for larger families and/or senior residents," the DA submitted.
