New south swell predicted

On Monday there was a small south spike that pushed some half decent waves into the Wanda banks but it was pretty slow going with nice winds keeping things clean.

Yesterday the 2-3ft south swell swung around to the north-east giving the protected southern reefs a few decent waves and keeping the crowds happy.

This morning it's back to being almost dead flat with a couple of 1-2 footers- with a strong offshore really keeping the dead east swell straight and clean.

The good news is this flat swell will finally crack tomorrow, with a new 3-5ft south swell due in the morning picking up to 4-6 in the afternoon.

Friday and Saturday these good sized waves are still predicted to hang around,before slowly dropping into Monday where conditions will still see some 2-3 ft clean waves.

There are some good banks up the beach so hopefully the winds will groom them into something that can handle a little size.

I took todays pics at one of the Cronulla reef breaks that likes a little east swell-its not a secret spot but some surfers think it is.

The Corona Open Mexico presented by Quiksilver, the seventh stop on the World Surf League 2021 Championship Tour, will open on August 10 and run through August 19, 2021.

This event marks the first time in 15 years that the world's best surfers will be competing at the iconic right-hand break located on the edge of the Sierra Madre in Oaxaca, Mexico.

After making history in Tokyo and winning surfing's first-ever Olympic gold medals, reigning WSL Champions Hawaiian Carissa Moore and Italo Brazilian Ferreira will now focus their attention to the tour and their respective World Title campaigns.

Kanoa Igarashi (JPN) and Owen Wright (AUS) also came away with success at the Olympic Games, with Igarashi winning silver and Wright winning bronze.

Moore, Ferreira, Igarashi, and Wright will get back to competing on the CT for the World Title at the Corona Open Mexico presented by Quiksilver.

Gold medalist Moore is currently No. 1 in the world, and has already clinched a spot in the WSL Final 5, while Ferreira currently sits as World No. 2, and will go to Mexico with the extra confidence of an Olympic medalist.
