Sutherland Shire Council is offering grants of up to $2000 each to residents in Greenweb zones for bushland restoration projects.
A maximum of 10 grants will be provided for works such as the removal of invasive bushland weeds, regeneration and revegetation of natural bushland with local native plants and habitat creation and/or protection.
Mayor Steve Simpson said applications would be prioritised according to the conservation value of the proposed project.
"We highly encourage joint applications, such as those with neighbouring properties, to extend the effective size of bushland reserves by joining several together within the network, enabling them to support a wider range of species," he said.
The Greenweb network is made up of key areas of bushland habitat, which provide interconnecting "linkages" or corridors.
The corridors, which run through both public and private lands, connect pockets of bushland and enable animals and plants to move between habitat areas to locate food, shelter and other species.
Grant applications opened on August 1 and will close on August 31.
