The St George Hospital COVID-19 Vaccination Hub has reached another major milestone - with 50,000 vaccines administered since it opened.
Less than eight weeks after the hub reached its first major milestone - 20,000 vaccinations - staff were celebrating again this week.
The hub is currently the only NSW Health-run vaccination centre located in St George or Sutherland Shire.
In a post on its Facebook page, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) said staff from the hub were celebrating "a major milestone this week after administering over 50,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines since the hub opened in March".
It said the team was "working hard to keep our community safe and would like to thank everyone who has come forward so far to be vaccinated".
"In doing so, you have taken an important step to protect yourself, your loved ones and the community.
"Thanks also to our fabulous staff who continue to work hard to make the hub run smoothly."
The hub was one of 11 vaccination hubs announced by NSW Health at the start of the year.
It was officially opened on March 10, with NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Minister for Health Brad Hazzard and Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant among the first to be vaccinated.
After vaccinating healthcare staff, their families, frontline workers, quarantine staff and their families, the clinic opened to eligible members of the general public in May.
