There has been a sudden jump in COVID-19 cases in Sutherland Shire, with the Engadine-Heathcote area a new hot spot.
NSW Health data by local government area reveals 40 active cases in the shire up till 8pm on August 15, of which 10 have an unknown source.
This compares with 31 active cases on August 11 and also on August 1.
The Engadine-Heathcote area (postcode 2233) has 11 cases, an increase of nine in a fortnight.

There are two new cases in both the Miranda area (2228) and Cronulla area (2230).
