
Vaccination rates are surging in Sutherland Shire, with 60-79 per cent of residents in all but one postcode area having received at least one jab.
The number of active COVID cases also continues to rise, with 49 recorded up till August 19 - an increase of eight in four days.
The best performing postcode areas for vaccination are 2225 (Caravan Head, Oyster Bay) and 2226 (Bonnet Bay, Jannali and Como) where 40-49 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated.
The lowest figures are for postcode 2231 (Kurnell), where 50-59 per cent of residents have had the first dose but only 20-29 per cent two doses.
The figures in several areas increased by at least 10 per cent in three days.
The proportion of adults who are vaccinated in each postcode area, according to NSW Health website figures on August 19:
- 2224 (Sylvania / Southgate / Kangaroo Pt): Received first dose 60-69%; fully vaccinated 30-39%.
- 2225 (Caravan Head /Oyster Bay): Received first dose 70-79%; fully vaccinated 40-49%.
- 2226 (Bonnet Bay / Como / Jannali): Received first dose 70-79%; fully vaccinated 40-49%.
- 2227 (Gymea area): Received first dose 70-79%; fully vaccinated 30-39%.
- 2228 (Miranda area): Received first dose 60-69%; fully vaccinated 30-39%.
- 2229 (Caringbah area): Received first dose 60-69%; fully vaccinated 30-39%.
- 2230 (Cronulla / Bundeena): Received first dose 60-69%; fully vaccinated 30-39%.
- 2231 (Kurnell): Received first dose 50-59%; fully vaccinated 20-29%.
- 2232 (Kareela / Sutherland / Woronora / Loftus): Received first dose 60-69%; fully vaccinated 30-39%.
- 2233 (Engadine / Heathcote / Waterfall): Received first dose 70-79%; fully vaccinated 30-39%.
- 2234 (Menai area): Received first dose 60-69%; fully vaccinated 30-39%
NSW Health is no longer issuing daily advice on shops and other venues in Sydney visited by COVID cases.
