Monro Park at Cronulla is looking a treat on the first day of Spring.
Sutherland Shire Council parks operations staff have adorned the gardens with an eye-catching floral display, including poppies in full bloom around the war memorial.
The poppies are part of the seasonal winter display and, along with other annuals, will be removed towards the end of September to make way for colourful spring and summer varietals including petunias, marigolds, cosmos and dahlias.
Council staff have also pruned the popular rose garden display, with these plants now weeks away from bursting into full bloom.
A new irrigation system, which was installed over the last year, will ensure the gardens and lawn are in the best condition all year around.
A council spokesman said staff were also busy in other areas, including the E G Waterhouse National Camellia Gardens and Forby Sutherland Memorial Park at Sutherland.
"Council staff are making the most of the change of season with hedging, pruning, mowing and general maintenance works," he said.
