St George Illawarra confirmed on Monday, August 30 that playmaker Adam Clune has been released from the final season of his contract to take up a long-term opportunity at another NRL club.
Clune has spent the past decade at the Dragons across Harold Matthews, SG Ball, Under-20s, Knock Out Effect Cup and NRL competitions.
Clune departs the Dragons with 25 first grade games to his name.
Five spots now remain on the Dragons' 2022 Top 30 roster as a result of Clune's release.
"I want to thank the Dragons for giving me the opportunities that they have over the past 10 years," Clune said.
"The chance to shore up my long-term future elsewhere will be one that is out of my comfort zone but a great opportunity to continue my growth as a player and person.
"The club is in safe hands with the quality of young halves coming through the ranks and I'm excited to see how they develop from afar."
Dragons general manager of football Ben Haran thanked Clune for his commitment to the club.
"There is a lot to admire about Adam but his perseverance to fight for an eventual first grade debut speaks plenty about the person he is," Haran said.
"Adam has been an exemplary member of our first grade squad over the past two seasons and everyone at the Dragons wishes nothing but the best for him and his partner, Bianca."
