Three childcare centres in Sutherland Shire have had COVID cases in the last month, but health authorities say there was no need to alert the public.
Community sources advised the Leader of the cases involving both staff and children.
South Eastern Sydney Local Health District was asked to verify the information and whether the centres should be named so parents could be more cautious about playgrounds and other community facilities in those areas?.
A spokeswoman for the health district responded, "In the last month, there have been three unrelated exposures at childcare centres in the Sutherland Shire.
"In each case, accurate records of individuals that had been in the centres at the time these cases were present were reviewed.
"All individuals have been contacted and close contacts advised to isolate for 14 days.
"Given that all individuals have been contacted, these venues are not defined as public health risks and therefore there is no need to alert the public."
