The NSW Government will investigate the impact of the M5-East toll after 12 months of operation.
The new toll from King Georges Road to General Holmes Drive coincided with opening of the new M8 motorway.
The toll was met with criticism when it was announced last year due to concerns it would impact local roads and put further financial burden on south west Sydney families.
More than 10,000 people also signed a petition calling for the toll to be scrapped.
NSW Labor Leader Chris Minns said the NSW Government pocketed $9.3 billion privatising half of WestConnex but would spend just $191,400 to study the impact its tolls were having on residents in southern Sydney.
He said the M5-East toll - $7.23 for cars and $27.80 for trucks one way - was causing thousands of trucks to flood into local streets every day resulting in traffic chaos, unbearable noise and safety issues.
"The Berejiklian Government's review of the M5-East is turning out to be a cruel hoax," he said.
"The meagre and miserly level of funding won't go near to identifying the problems caused by putting a new toll on 20-year old road.
"The report must address the problem of rat running trucks on local streets in Bexley and Beverley Hills. Families cannot sleep at night due to the noise of trucks hurtling through local streets.
"We need answers to the safety issues caused by increased traffic around the many schools in the area, especially in Hurstville.
"Residents in St George are paying up to $3,000 a year in tolls. They deserve more for their money."
Macquarie Fields MP (Labor) Anoulack Chanthivong told the Advertiser last year that the government had betrayed motorists in south-west Sydney by giving Transurban the rights to toll the M5 East as part of the sale of WestConnex,
He said it was unfair to make motorists pay to use an old road.
"We are in the middle of an economic recession and the Liberal Party's heartless response is to collect more tolls," he said.
"This is a blatant cash grab on motorists who are struggling financially during the pandemic."
