There is no doubt that TikTok has star-making power and Jade Stegbauer could be the next Aussie star found on the app.
Stegbauer was handpicked by Aussie pop duo The Veronicas - Jess and Lisa Origliasso - to take part in UNDSCVRD, a docu-series to be filmed for TikTok.
The series, presented by Samsung Galaxy, will feature five singer-songwriters who will record a song and create a music video under the mentorship of The Veronicas.
Stegbauer said she was excited to have won her way into the competition.
"It was crazy to be selected for the competition and it still doesn't feel real yet," the Kirrawee resident said.
"I have auditioned for a lot of things but this is the first show I have ever auditioned for.
"I had all these songs so I just started singing them and putting them on TikTok with the #UNDSCVRD"
The talented 18-year-old plays piano, guitar, saxophone and ukulele.
She said her love of music started at a young age.
"My siblings and I have always loved music," Stegbauer said.
"I started out doing piano and then I started singing lessons and I am doing music in my HSC."
Stegbauer said JP Cooper, Guy Sebastian, Alicia Keys and Aretha Franklin were some of her musical influences.
"I'm really influenced by soul, pop and R'n'B," she said.
"I'd say my music is mix of jazz and blues and pop."
Contestants will film the docu-series over a few weeks with the chance to spend time working alongside The Veronicas.
"I haven't met them yet but I think it will feel more real when I do," Stegbauer said.
"I have met all the other contestants now and we all get along really well which is good."
Stegbauer said she was looking forward to learning more about the industry through the docu-sries.
"I really am looking forward to gaining some more experience - and if I manage to win that would be crazy," she said.
"It's such an achievement for all of us to get this far but to win would be really cool.
"I hope to have a sustainable career in music, even if I am writing songs for other artists, I do love to perform as well."
Stegbauer also had some advice for other budding performers.
"Just give it a crack - you might go to a lot of auditions, but keep going and a door will open," she said.
"Put in the hours and collaborate. I love collaboration because you get to spend time with other people who like the same things."
The series is being broadcast exclusively on TikTok from October.
The winner will release a five-track EP.
