G'day readers,
Strange headline? Yes. I am on two weeks annual leave at the moment, but I didn't want to miss writing to you, so I've fired up the laptop whilst sitting in my backyard getting some sunshine into my system.
I'll keep it brief because the wi-fi out here is a tad shaky.
Good news and COVID, as we've discussed, don't always go hand in hand. But Murray Trembath tells us Sutherland Shire has a purple glow on the COVID vaccination map, with more than 80 per cent of adult residents in every area having had their first jab. I reckon that's good news in the current environment.
Murray also reports the Cronulla mall will be draped with fairy lights, with more outdoor tables and shop displays to help businesses as they reopen after the Delta lockdown. A good initiative that should be duplicated across all shopping areas in St George and the Sutherland Shire. What do you think?
Jim Gainsford tells us Bayside Council deputy mayor, James Macdonald, has called for urgent repairs to the foreshore walkway at Ida Street Sandringham. We've had a few letters about this, so I am sure the council should begin work as soon as possible.
Sarah Falson brings us another of the feel-good yarns we all have grown to love, but it is only for adults this week.
Sarah tells us how St George and Sutherland Shire couples could enjoy a special night in and let love rule. It's a bit of fun that I am sure will get some tongues wagging.
That's it from me this week. I am off to go and walk the dog.
Thanks for reading the Leader and for subscribing to the weekly wrap. I appreciate it.
I hope your day is full of love, laughter, music and news. Chat with you next week.
