Bayside and Georges River Councils will both hold their mayoral elections next week.
Georges River Council will hold its mayoral election at an extraordinary meeting next Monday at 6pm and Bayside next Wednesday at 7pm for the positions of mayor and deputy mayor.
Georges River will follow the election with its scheduled council meting at 7pm.
While the local government elections have been postponed to 4 December, 2021, the councils are still required to elect a Mayor in September 2021 which is at the end of the current two-year mayoral term.
The election process is governed by the Local Government Act and its General Regulation.
The General Manager is the Returning Officer and administers the election process.
Prior to the election taking place, Council must determine whether the method of voting for electing the Mayor is to be by way of open voting, ordinary ballot, or preferential ballot.
