Kevin Greene has been re-elected as mayor of Georges River Council for the remaining two months of the current council term before the local government elections to be held in December.
Councillor Greene was the only nomination and was elected unopposed.
Cr Stephen Aguis was elected as deputy mayor.
While the local government elections have been postponed to 4 December, 2021, the councils are still required to elect a Mayor in September 2021 which is at the end of the current two-year mayoral term.
The election process is governed by the Local Government Act and its General Regulation.
The council's General Manager is the Returning Officer and administers the election process.
Prior to the election taking place, Council must determine whether the method of voting for electing the Mayor is to be by way of open voting, ordinary ballot, or preferential ballot.
Bayside Council will hold its mayoral election on Wednesday night.
