A man in his 70s from south-western Sydney who had COVID-19 has died at St George Hospital, NSW Health has revealed in its daily COVID update.
The man had received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
His death was one of two reported today. The second was a woman in her 90s who died at the Tarrawanna aged care facility, north of Wollongong, where she acquired her infection.
She had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and is the third death linked to an outbreak at this facility.
NSW Health said it extended its sincere condolences to their loved ones.
NSW recorded 293 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, and no new overseas acquired cases.
The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since the Delta strain of the virus was first detected in Sydney on June 16 is 508.
There are currently 381 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 82 people in intensive care, 38 of whom require ventilation.
