Georges River Council will open a pop-up skate park this summer while holding community consultation for permanent skate and bike infrastructure.
Local bike riders and the wider community can complete a survey to help find out what is required for off-road bike riding in the local government area.
The council has also developed an interactive 'Build My Bike Track' map for bike riders to pinpoint where they would like to see a bike track or facility. These include dirt jumps, pump tracks, skate parks or riding trails.
Maps of off-road trails, where biking is permitted, have been developed and will be published for the community's use.
While the consultation is underway, there will be interim solutions to cater for off-road biking activities, as endorsed by the council in October 2021.
This summer, Council will install a pop-up skate park suitable for bike riding, such as BMX, at Olds Park, Penshurst as well as deliver tracks to Lower Gannons Park in Peakhurst.
Georges River Council General Manager Gail Connolly said, "Council is committed to delivering a diverse range of high quality, sustainable, inclusive places and spaces for people of all ages and abilities.
"Our Open Space, Recreation and Community Facilities Strategy identifies mountain biking as an emerging sport with rising popularity, so we want to hear from our community how we can support this in Georges River."
The consultation on BMX and mountain bike riding in Georges River is open now until Friday 21 January 2022.
