Labor and the Liberals held their wards at Georges River and Bayside councils in election 2021 but there will also be some new faces in the next term from outside the major parties.
In Georges River's Blakehurst Ward at the close of counting on Saturday night, the Georges River Residents and Ratepayers Party candidate Natalie Mort was ahead with 47.8 per cent of the vote counted followed by the Liberal's Sam Elmir with 24.9 per cent and Labor's Kathryn Landsberry with 13.9 per cent.
In Hurstville Ward, Labor's Colleen Symington was ahead with 28.4 per cent of the vote counted, followed by the Liberal's Nancy Liu and Georges River Residents and Ratepayers Bob Jones.
In Kogarah Bay Ward, Labor's Nick Katris was leading with 32.9 per cent of the vote counted, followed by the Liberal's Sam Stratikopoulos with 25 per cent of the vote and Independent Lachlan McLean with 21 per cent.
In Peakhurst Ward, Labor's Kevin Greene had 41 per cent of the vote counted, followed by the Liberal's Lou Konjarski with 36 per cent of the vote and Georges River Residents and Ratepayers Peter Mahoney with 21.9 per cent of the vote.
Results for Mortdale Ward had not been published.
Bayside Council results:
Ward 1:
Labor was ahead with 42.3 per cent of the vote counted, followed by the Greens' James Macdonald with 27.1 per cent, and independent candidates John Heffernan and Jennier Muscat both with 15.2 per cent.
In Ward 2, Labor's Joanne Jansyn had 40.4 per cent of the vote counted, Michael Nagi 32 per cent and the Greens' Peter Strong 20 per cent.
Ward 3 saw Labor's Bill Saravinovski achieve 47.67 per cent of the vote counted followed by independent Andrew Tsounis with 20.33 per cent and the Greens Greta Werner with 20.33 per cent.
In Ward 4, long-term independent Liz Barlow was leading with 44.9 per cent of the vote, followed by Labor's Joe Awada with 40 per cent and the Greens Catriona Carver with 14 percent.
In Ward 5, Labor's Ed McDougall had 31.8 per cent of the vote, followed by Independent Paul Sedrak with 20.6 per cent, and Independent Heidi Douglas with 20.43 per cent.
