Sutherland and St George Cricket Club met this past Sunday, December 5, at Glen McGrath Oval, in round four of the 2021/22 Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup.
After three rounds, St George entered the clash at the top of the Sydney Sixers conference with two wins and a draw, while Sutherland had one draw and two losses.
Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, St George quickly knocked off Sutherland's top order batters.
An opening wicket from Jonathon Craig Dobson and a pair of wickets from Luke Bartier had Sutherland at just 3/15 early in the innings.
Wickets remained consistent for St George throughout most of the innings' first half.
Joshua Moors and Nick Stapleton each took one, while Kurtis Patterson and Max Farmer combined for a run-out.
Sutherland were 6/41 when Justin Green came to the crease, where he combined with Doyle for an impressive 96 run partnership.
Tom Doyle led his side with 56 from 44 balls, while Green knocked 42 from 29.
Sutherland ended with 6/142 after 20 overs.
St George, led by Colin Munro, came out with a solid opening few overs before a quick pair of wickets from Green had the batting side at 2/36.
Unfortunately, Sutherland could not capitalise too much as runs came fairly consistently for St George.
Straker and Pinson were each able to snag a wicket, but a more than 70 run partnership between Bartier and Kaleb Phillips had St George sitting comfortably at 4/130.
The visiting side finished the innings with 4/144 after 16 overs, winning the match.
St George now sits at the top of the table and will face UTS North Sydney on Sunday, while Sutherland seeks to bounce back against Gordon.
