A surprise arrival stumped Jacqueline and Roberto Carrick as soon as the clocked ticked over to 2022.
Their new daughter, Eden, made her appearance on January 1.
The couple's new year baby was born at 2.21am at Sutherland Hospital.
She was due December 29, but decided to make her grand entrance into the world three days late.
The Illawong parents arrived at the hospital at midnight - even catching a glimpse of the fireworks before the other main event that evening.
"We weren't expecting it," Mrs Carrick, 33, said.
"It went really quickly. The contractions started when I was about to go to bed. She came out crying. We knew it was a girl. I'm really impatient, I wanted to find out so I could get organised."
Eden is the couple's fourth child.
"We're done. We always said four was the most we would go. I'm one of four too - I have three younger brothers," Mrs Carrick said.
She said COVID-19 restrictions during lockdown made her pregnancy and birth a little different.
"It was hard making appointments because I had to go on my own," she said. "My husband could only come to the 12 week scan. I had to make appointments around daycare days.
"Also for my other children's births I had my mum there for support. This time only my husband was there. Mum was upset but we called on FaceTime as soon as she was born.
"But it was a lot quieter in hospital, that was a good experience."
