Bayside Council is undertaking a number of playground improvements across the Local Government Area this year.
Construction on the projects will commence in early Autumn 2022 and is scheduled to be completed in Winter 2022, weather permitting.
Have a look at some of the projects due to start this year:
G B Holt Reserve Playspace, Edgehill Street, Carlton.
The new playspace will be located well out of the low-lying land within G B Holt Reserve providing the community with better play opportunities including climbing, sliding, and swinging, catering for a range of ages and abilities, on wetpour rubber under a new shade structure.
New seating, a drinking fountain, and pedestrian access path through the park will also be provided. Following completion of the new playspace, the existing playspace will be restored to grass.
Shepherd Parade Reserve Playspace, Bardwell Road, Bardwell Park.
The project consists of upgrading the playspace within Shepherd Parade Reserve to provide the community with better play opportunities including climbing, sliding, rotating, and swinging, catering for a range of ages and abilities on wetpour rubber, with nature play elements in mulch, and a shade structure over the playspace.
A circuit path and improved pedestrian access to Bardwell Road, and better park facilities associated with the playspace including a picnic table with shelter, seats, table-seat, drinking fountain and a bin will also be included.
Evatt Park Playspace, Basil Road, Bexley.
The project consists of upgrading the playspace within Evatt Park Bexley to provide the community with better play opportunities including climbing, sliding, rocking and swinging, catering for a range of ages and abilities on wetpour rubber, with a shade structure installed over the main play area and additional nature play elements in mulch.
Other works include the installation of a picnic table, a new drinking fountain, additional bench seats, sandstone rock seats, a bin and improved pedestrian access to the playspace off the existing path network.
Belmore Reserve playspace, Station Street, Arncliffe.
The project consists of upgrading the playspace within Belmore Reserve to provide the community with better play opportunities including climbing, spinning, sliding and swinging, catering for a range of ages and abilities, on wetpour rubber. Nature play elements will be included under the existing trees in new mulch.
The existing climbing net will be retained, and a shade structure installed over the main playspace.
New seating, a picnic table, drinking fountain sandstone rock seats, new tree and mass planting, and improved pedestrian access will also be included.
Kookaburra Reserve Playspace, Shaw Street, Kingsgrove.
The project consists of upgrading the playspace to provide the community with better play opportunities including climbing, sliding, rotating, and swinging, catering for a range of ages and abilities, on wetpour rubber within a circuit path.
Other improvements include a shade structure over the main play space, sandstone rock seats, additional bench seats, picnic table, and drinking fountain.
Depena Playspace, Russell Avenue, Dolls Point.
The project consists of the construction of a new regional level playspace including both bespoke and proprietary play equipment suitable to ages 2 to 15, including all access equipment and inclusive playspace design. The playground will have mixed under surfacing to play equipment, new pathways, park furniture, landscaping, safety fencing and new shade sails.
