NSW Health has updated its testing and isolation guidelines for Early Childhood Education Services.
Testing and isolation is no longer mandatory, but remains strongly recommended for contacts of a positive case in early childhood settings.
Mandatory requirements only apply for household contacts of a confirmed COVID-19 case. If a child or someone in their household tests positive, families must follow NSW Health testing and isolation requirements.
If a child shows symptoms they should remain home until symptoms end.
Before they can return to a service, staff and children at department preschools must provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test if they have been absent or excluded due to showing symptoms of COVID-19 or being a confirmed positive case. This is not mandatory for early childhood services run by other organisations.
All educators and staff must have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination, and are encouraged to get a booster when eligible.
Staff mask wearing in indoor early childhood settings is required.
