District U14s win comp
CRICKET: Georges River St George District Cricket Association Moore Shield under-14s team won the 2014-15 competition, defeating Hawkesbury by six wickets on Sunday at Olds Park, Penshurst.
In recognition of the team’s outstanding performance, Cricket NSW has now selected seven players Matthew Iemma, Matthew Turner, Bradley Uglow, Nivek Tanner, Michael Kennedy, Rory Russo and Lachlan Bogar to play in the NSW under-14s state titles during January in Dubbo.
This tournament is part of the selection process to name the NSW under-15s team to play at the 2015 national titles.
NRL derby dates set
RUGBY LEAGUE: St George Illawarra Dragons and Cronulla Sharks will play their two local derbies in close proximity next season. The first clash is round 12 on May 31 at Kogarah Oval and the second clash is round 18 on July 12 at Remondis Stadium. Cronulla’s opening home game will be against Canberra on March 8 at Remondis Stadium. The Dragons tackle Melbourne Storm on March 9 at Kogarah Oval. Details: nrl.com.
Rowers League series
SURF LIFE SAVING: The final round of the Navy Australian Surf Rowers League series is on Sunday at Elouera Life Saving Club. Heats start at 8am and finals start at 1pm. The event decides the open men’s and women’s crews to face New Zealand in the three-match Test series in February.
Tournament for juniors
GOLF: The Aron Price Junior Open Golf Tournament will be held this Thursday at Kareela Golf Club. Price, who recently finished in the top 10 at the 2014 Australian Masters and Australian Open, encourages junior golfers through his continuing sponsorship of this annual event. The tournament is open to boys and girls under 18 years who have a Golf Australia handicap.
