Heathcote and Engadine Anglican churches have praised residents for their generosity in the lead up to Christmas where they donated enough food and toys for 200 families in need.
People from suburbs around Heathcote and Engadine donated gifts and food through the Anglican Church’s Toys ‘n’ Tucker program from December 1 to 9.
Engadine Anglican Church’s Assistant Minister, Ben Boardman said the church was indebted to Engadine Central Shopping Centre (the Woolworths site) which allowed a collection stall at their car park entrance to collect donations.
“Volunteers from our church were blown away with the generosity of local residents who donated about 150 large boxes of food and toys,” Reverend Boardman said.
“Anglicare, the charitable arm of the Anglican church, was able to assemble around 200 hampers which were distributed in the lead up to Christmas to those less fortunate than ourselves.
