MARK Coure and John Flowers can rightly point to the planned building of a new, $39 million emergency department at St George Hospital as a major achievement.

Ironically, they can thank Labor for "starting the ball rolling".
Former premier Kristina Keneally promised the project after Kogarah MP Cherie Burton presented her with the project, which was developed by hospital clinicians.
In opposition, the Coalition was initially cool on the idea, but later matched the promise.
Mr Coure is also on track to deliver a promised upgrade of Oatley railway station, including a much-needed lift, although no construction starting date has been set.
Mr Flowers won an important budget allocation for a pedestrian tunnel under the railway line at Arncliffe, but has jettisoned his pledge to reopen Rockdale police station in a new location.
Ms Burton gave Mr Coure credit for "keeping the pressure on" to secure the new emergency department, but she doubted that Oatley and Narwee station upgrades were close.
She was also "disappointed" by lack of government support for the new Bexley swimming centre, and the delayed start to work on a new bridge over the railway line at Allawah.
"This government has reduced the annual community partnerships program, which helps many groups, from $300,000 to $200,000 per electorate," she said. "They have also cut into TAFE, and forced Catholic schools to raise fees."
