IN a reunion of the 1993 St George premiership year when the club won the pre-season Trumper Cup, the Club Championship and the Premier Division grand final, St George proved too good for Norths on a wet surface.
The day also saw the return to St George of Jordan West after a season of US College basketball, and Jesse Mudge, 16, nominated Sydney AFL Rising Star following his game the previous week.
Both sides finished the first quarter even, before the marking power of St George, through goal scorers Nick Ryan and Paul Sain, caused the Bombers enormous problems.
Saints advanced their margin to five goals in the third quarter before conditions finally took their toll, leaving Saints winners by 38 points.
The efforts of defenders Michael Milner and Dean Gilbert were again all class, with young Gilbert the "best on ground".
Players left the field to the cheers of the Old Boys who had journeyed from as far away as Britain and stood in the rain to sing the club song.
Score : St George 11-7 (73)
d North Shore 4- 11 (35).
