HE is known as "Harries" from Bondi Rescue, but in his spare time lifeguard Anthony Carroll talks to children who share his experience with dyslexia.
Mr Carroll was a guest speaker at a one-day workshop for 40 teenagers with dyslexia at St George & Sutherland Community College, Jannali. He was there for Learning Without Limits, an initiative designed to assist students who had learning difficulties.
Mr Carroll grew up with dyslexia. He talked about the challenges of reading, and showed kids how they could use assistive technology.
The free technology was given to students to use at home and at school. This was the third year the workshop had taken place.
It was in established in partnership with Sutherland Dyslexia Support Group, Engadine District Youth Services, Project Youth, St George and Sutherland Community College, National Disability Coordination Officer Program, Sutherland Shire Learning Difficulties Support Group, Sailors with Disabilities and Sutherland Business Education Network.
