OMEROS on the Beach, owned by John and Effie Omeros, is a great restaurant at any time but to the Omeros family, special occasions are exactly that.
Which explains why John and Effie have been planning their next big event — Father's Day.
And so on the first Sunday in September — which this year happens to be the first day in September — Omeros on the Beach will be offering a special menu for dads and all the family to enjoy.
A day when John Omeros will be remembering his father, Costa, who arrived from Greece in 1961 and who became a qualified chef opening his own Sydney restaurants, including Rhiannon Fine Dining at Sans Souci which became a finalist in a Best Seafood Restaurant poll by the The Sun-Herald.
Omeros on the Beach in Ramsgate is also a family affair managed by John and Effie, with their children Marie, twins Dean and Stephan and John's brother Peter and loyal staff. It is a restaurant that enjoyed many successes winning Best Fine Dining Restaurant awards from this newspaper in 2008, 2011 and 2012 plus a 2011 best business award from Rockdale Council.
The 2013 Father's Day menu at Omeros on the Beach begins with a choice of five entrees including a blue swimmer crab salad and garlic prawns in a garlic and mushroom cream sauce.
The choices for mains include grilled blue eye cod, flathead fillets and an eye fillet steak.
Desserts include vanilla bean pannacotta and Effie Omeros's apple pie with cinnamon gelato.
