TWO Sutherland Shire mums, each with a daughter with cerebral palsy, are stepping out for a good cause.
With two friends, they will each take 10,000 steps a day for the month for an event called STEPtember to raise money for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
Lisa and seven-year-old daughter Cate Mottershead and Michele and Tiarna Phillpot, 8, use the services of the Cerebral Palsy Alliance at Penshurst.
The organisation provides vital services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and advice, Mrs Mottershead said.
"You wouldn't be able to do it without them," she said. "It costs a lot of money to see all the therapists.
"They're good with advice and working out what you need, and they are non-profit, which is why fund-raisers are so important."
So far the team have raised $1300, crushing their original goal of $500. The event runs until October 2.
