FIREFIGHTERS, fire vehicles and aircraft continued to battle bushfires throughout New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
A total of 92 bushfires have continued to burn in NSW alone, with 29 being contained and two classified as Watch and Act.
An emergency warning was issued to Wagga Wagga residents after one of the strongest fires in the Minnimbah region at the Murraguldrie State Forest, burned through 9000 hectares, while destroying three homes.
In response to the loss, an investigation has been launched by New South Wales Rural Fire Service teams.
The RFS confirmed conditions have improved thanks to more than 170 firefighters attending the scene and their back-burning strategies to consolidate containment lines,
“The Minnimbah fire has burnt through pine forest, which has accelerated both the speed and flames of the fire, an RFS spokesman said.
"Back- burning remains to be an important strategy with these fires having the potential to burn for the next few days."
Similar strategies have been used to contain the Moombril fire in the Wannatong area, Bathurst.
Thirty-five trucks, 100 fire fighters and aircraft are on the scene in an effort to prevent the expected increase in fire, smoke and flame levels. It has already destroyed 1,400 hectares.
The RFS wants residents to be prepared for changing conditions with a bushfire survival plan and to report unattended fires.
“On Tuesday there will be total fire bans declared for the northern regions including, the New England Northern slopes and North Western,” an RFS spokesman said.
Other out of control fires include Redbank, near Mount Ryan, the Hells Hole fire, near Windburndale Dam, the Blackwater bushfire, east of the Widden Valley, and the Jacks Creek Forest fire, near East Narrabri.
Evacuation procedures and road closures will remain in place, and residents should continue to check for updates.
The spokesman said NSW firefighters have also been sent to South Australia to help with fires there with conditions not expected to improve due to the continued heat.
