STAPLETON Family Meats won a swag of prizes at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show in the deli meat competition.
The team won two gold medals for their hams; four silver medals for ham, bacon, corned beef and kranski; and eight bronze medals for bacon, roast pork, cabanossi, and fresh sausages.
Crowding out the trophy cabinet even further are their first-place prizes for Italian sausages and traditional Australian sausages.
The Gymea team always receives a thrill from showing off its skills in industry competitions and often walks away with prizes.
Owner Ron Stapleton, whose great-grandfather Charles Harvey opened the original store at Sutherland, said it remains a family business.
Mr Stapleton said other butchers in Sutherland Shire traded under similar names but had no connection to the Gymea store.
Its meat is European Union-accredited and the beef is produced by the Branga Plains Pastoral Company, which Stapleton has dealt with for 20 years.
"We buy the best meat," Mr Stapleton said.
"We're the oldest butchers in the business but we've kept ahead of everything."
