Old stingers unite: OK, OK, so these old fellas might have outgrown their skungies, spent long days in the paddock, emptied their bath water, etc, etc but let’s give all the big boys some credit.
They’ve just officially formed the new Sandringham Stingrays Swim Club. And even if they wouldn’t outswim any competitive swimmer over 25 metres or more, just the very formation of the new club can only help to improve the fitness of all members, all retired and aged from 60 up to 90.
Some of them once enjoyed the sporting paddock, and some quite successfully such as former Wallaby Peter Joyce and Queensland league players Warren Pegg and Ned Parker. Not only that, says organiser Pegg, they are looking for new members at Sandringham baths.
