Re "Skate park hold-up" (Leader, June 26).
What do Urunga, Brunswick Heads, Waterloo, Mullumbimby, Bangalow, Ballina, Port Macquarie and the small north coast town of Smiths Lake have in common? They all have skate parks.
The Port Macquarie skate park is a great example of what Cronulla needs.
While walking and enjoying the coastline people can watch the many talented riders. Waterloo is also a great example and even holds competition events.
My son loves all aspects of skating and riding and filming. It is absolutely appalling skaters are told off and forced out of car parks etc whilst they have no skate park in Cronulla.
The hold-up is completely unacceptable.
Whose idea was it to have the park located where it is proposed? Has anyone thought how kids will get there? What types of people will it attract, being in the middle of nowhere? It should be located in a position that is easier to access.
