Ocean conditions were expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, swimming and surfing.
This did not stop the more experienced surfers from making the most of the 2-3 metre-high swells that were being fanned by 20-30km/h westerly winds.
Cape Solander, Shark Island and North Cronulla beach were the prime sites that surfers enjoyed with gusto.
Some people could say “gut-so” because the wave power did not leave any room for error or surfers had to prepare for the obvious consequences.
The weekend should mostly sunny with the chance of showers late afternoon and evening; winds will be west to north-westerly 15-25 km/h turning south-westerly late afternoon.
