CARINGBAH business Enware has been lauded in a federal government report on Australian manufacturing businesses.
The Design for Manufacturing Competitiveness report says businesses such as Enware, which specialises in tapware and safety technology, give customers what they want and need.
Industry Minister Ian MacFarlane, who launched the report, said high-performing, globally-competitive Australian manufacturing firms that applied design principles to all aspects of their work had common attributes.
"They listen to their customers, suppliers and researchers and then turn their ideas into products and services their customers want," he said.
Enware recently celebrated its largest export delivery: 700 Australian designed and manufactured emergency-safety showers and associated safety equipment to Saudi Arabia.
Enware managing director Adam Degnan said the company did not compete on price alone but looked to provide innovative ideas.
"While many companies in the industry have moved offshore for lower costs, Enware has, as much as possible, committed to keeping core manufacturing skills and technology in Australia," he said.
