It was on this premise that The Men of League Foundation was founded.
For many years Roosters premiership winning player John Peard helped raise millions of dollars for charities with his public speaking including the Men of League organisation.
Peard suffered a stroke in 2002 paralysing the left side of his body but still he helped out where he could visiting nursing homes and still supporting the Men of League foundation.
Thursday night at Sharkies leagues club it was time to give back when the John 'Bomber' Peard event, organised by the NSW state manager of the Men of League Foundation, Stuart Raper, raised more than $40,000 dollars to help get Peard to the USA for new medical treatment that will hopefully restore his mobility and quality of life.
Headlined by entertainer Shannon Noll and MC’d by 2GB’s Ray Hadlee the event was a sell out.
With the help of Virgin Airlines, Peard and his wife will now be on their way to the US for the revolutionary stroke treatment.
