Association secretary Teresa Simonetti said the clubs recently held a 50th anniversary dinner to celebrate.
‘‘Our organisation is an integral part of the sporting identity of the shire,’’ Teresa Simonetti said.
‘‘We have more than 1100 members and 91 teams and we have a rich history.’’
She said that the association was for all ages and levels of experience.
‘‘Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, we have a division for everyone,’’ Simonetti said.
Summer season is from October to the end of March.
‘‘We play on Saturday afternoons and Friday nights throughout the year at Sutherland Leisure Centre.
‘‘We are also running a new women’s competition on Friday nights in summer, for women of all ages.’’
The winter season starts in May and runs until the end of August.
The association has six clubs: Arctic, Bundeena, Caringbah, Gunnamatta, Shire and Sutherland.
Simonetti said the the junior age groups were from under 8s to under 16s.
Players 16 years and up play in the open division, in which teams have no age limit or restriction.
