ONE of the most popular community events in Sutherland Shire, the annual Gymea Village Fair, was a resounding success on Sunday.
An estimated 50,000 visitors flocked to Gymea Bay Road, which was closed between Kingsway and President Avenue, to join in the fun.
They were greeted with 200 stalls selling arts and crafts, plants, clothing, toys and a range of multicultural food including Turkish, Mexican and Thai.
There was a lively program of entertainment on the main stage set up in Warburton Street.
For those who couldn’t make it through the crowds to be at the stage for showtime, the entertainment was beamed live to a large screen at the President Avenue end of Gymea Bay Road.
Gymea Reserve, behind Gymea Hotel, was the site for amusement rides and Sydney N Scale Model Railway Club was popular at Gymea Community Hall.
Stage entertainment included the Dynamites, Jacqui Alexander Singing School, Harem Skarem, the Hot Teas duo, Kenson trio, Kirrawee High School Band and the Get Wild Reptile Show.
