The Mobile Bike Rental Cafe in Bay Street is one part bicycle shop and one part cafe.
Owners Radmila and Dragan Avramrvic chose to open their first cafe at Brighton because of the cycleway on the other side of the Grande Parade. "It's flat and it's beautiful," said Radmila. "You can cycle all the way to Cronulla in one direction and to the city via Cooks River in the other. It's a great outing for families on weekends or corporates who want to develop team skills."
They rent two types of bikes: hybrids (a cross between a mountain bike and a road bike); and city bikes, which are a lot more comfortable especially for weekend riders. Rates are (adults) $15 an hour; $23 for three hours; all day $35. Adult bikes, kids bikes and kids trailers and tagalongs are available, There is even a bicycle built for two.
The food is modern Balkan — classic breakfasts, made-to-order sandwiches, soup, bureks, soup, polenta, salads and luscious looking desserts. Allpress coffee is served, and there is free coffee with every bike hire.
The cafe is open daily, 7am to 7pm.
