RECENTLY, I viewed footage of a truck driver filming himself racing down the Hume Highway at 150km/h.

Considering he was piloting a 22-wheel semi, you can imagine what the reaction was when this was shown on national TV.
Why someone would do such a crazy stunt putting themselves and other road users at risk begs belief?
A fully laden semi is like a block of flats, and with all that mass no matter how skilled the driver, if a steer tyre exploded carnage is guaranteed.
Now that this footage has gone public police are showing interest, and you can be sure they will not stop until they track down this idiot.
What is even more shocking is how the general public reacted to such mental behaviour.
For starters, there are always those who support the idiot factor no matter how wrong their actions are.
I for one received a spray for calling the truck driver an idiot.
An abusive email claimed I sensationalized the story.
The writer said I had it in for truckies and made an example of this driver to bag the industry.
Let's make it quite clear: I support all those hard-working truck drivers who bust their butts to make a living and keep food on the table.
What I will not apologise for is the idiots like this speed freak who thinks it's OK to race a fully loaded semi at 150km/h on a public road.
Knowing how to Drive to Survive starts with improved attitudes, and this idiot will get an attitude adjustment when the police catch up with him.
