Punters wore their best fascinators and bright colours as they enjoyed a three-course meal overlooking the Georges River.
Fashion from Sutherland Shire clothing store Trinity Clothing — based at Engadine, Menai and Sylvania — was paraded with accessories from V.I.C. Design Direction.
Kathy Clarke was in bright colours and spirit in a specially chosen Louise Page dress.
‘‘Today is bitter sweet. I lost my best girlfriend on the weekend and she was a horse breeder and an avid racer who loved her horses. So we always had bubbles, we always celebrated,’’ she said.
‘‘Melbourne Cup is the start of the crazy season, the start of all the good things for summer and it is a time for celebration, to have a bit of a flutter, a time for expression, to let your hair down and be grateful for coming out of hibernation.’’
