Comedy for A Cause, a charitable organisation of which Wakefield is the director, combines comedy and support for non-profit organisations.
His latest venture has attracted an impressive line-up of comedians to Sutherland Shire for a fund-raising event to raise money for Bates Drive Public School.
Comedy Fest will be held from 7pm on Friday, November 21, at Kareela Golf Club.
Wakefield, who was raised at Kareela, witnessed the good work by the school which caters for students with special needs.
Comedy for A Cause was born from the idea of marrying comedy with worthwhile fund-raising missions.
"Comedy nights are a great way to fund-raise because unlike all these crazy run to Wollongong or ride to New Zealand-type endurance events, you can kick back and enjoy some laughs and all the supporters get to share in the fun," he said. "The parents and teachers involved in [Bates Drive School] work so hard, it would be nice to give them a few hours off."
Wakefield will host the night.
