Cronulla Sharks have improved its 2015 playing roster today by signing Gerard Beale and Kyle Stanley from St George Illawarra Dragons.
As reported recently in the Leader, Beale and Stanley were to be released from their contracts.
Beale has signed for the next three years and Stanley has signed for the 2015 season.
Kyle Stanley’s one-year contract is understood to be around $150,000 a season while Beale’s three-year contract is believed to be more than $1 million.
Stanley has had several knee reconstructions which have hampered his career.
Beale, 24, was released from the final year of his contract to join the Sharks.
He plays fullback, wing and centre and will add further depth to the Sharks.
Stanley, 23, can play hooker and several backline positions.
Beale recently played for New Zealand in the Four Nations series and Style played for Samoa.
Both will be given a few weeks break before they start training at the Sharks.
‘‘The Sharks are a club on the rise and I’m excited about this opportunity and to playing with them over the next three seasons,” Beale said.
‘‘I have been living in the region for a little while now, so my family is happy and settled, and I’m really looking forward to the next few years.’’
Former Endeavour Sports High student Kyle Stanley follows his ex-Dragons teammate Beale to the Sharks.
In other NRL news, the Dragons have signed centre Dane Nielsen from New Zealand Warriors.
Nielsen, who was released last week by the Warriors, has signed for two years.
