The Kogarah resident, 14, is a featured vocalist in the Department of Education and Communities' annual performing arts show, singing well-known advertising jingle Louie the Fly and Westside Story track Cool.
He will also sing backing vocals to the other 30-odd songs his peers feature in for the show, themed This is Australia.
"I like being able to communicate through music and through a performance because I'm not the best when it comes to words," he said.
"I feel that I've grown as a performer through all of this. It's just amazing, especially in the finale when it's a sea of people.
"I don't usually get nervous until right before I go on stage and then it's too late to do anything about it — you just have to get the job done."
Angus, a year 8 student at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, also plays guitar and piano and learns tap, jazz and ballet to hone his skills for productions including Rockdale Musical Society's High School Musical.
"Being in the theatre, you get to escape from everyday life and just be all these different characters," Angus said.
"Through musical theatre I've made really long-lasting, good friendships."
He said he was good at drama and music but dancing was not one of his strengths.
Schools Spectacular is on November 28 an 29 at Qantas Credit Union Arena, Darling Harbour. Details: schoolsspectacular.com.au
