Group operations property and procurement general manager Bernadette Inglis said significant refurbishments began earlier this year but staff were continuing to work in the building while it was under way.
"So far we have completed Westpac's new Innovation Centre - the hive - and built a range of new amenities for our people including a rooftop area that can be used for meetings and barbecues," Ms Inglis said. "As part of the modernisation process we're improving the building to make it an agile workspace.
"This will enable our people to work flexibly and replaces the traditional office layout that the local community would expect to see.
"The design of the physical workplaces aims to create an innovative and flexible work environment providing the best tools to enable collaboration and ultimately a better outcome for our customers."
Ms Inglis said Wi-Fi would be available throughout the building and staff would have access to a new Wellness Centre.
"The Westpac Group strategy is to progressively align our CBD locations to agile working," she said.
"The group's newly built Victorian head office at 150 Collins Street, Melbourne, is also an agile workplace which has seen more than 1000 employees move in over the last few months."
It is anticipated that the building will be the workplace of up to 3000 extra staff members by next September.
The building is one of three — the other two are in the Sydney CBD — to house St George and Westpac bank staff.
Do you think the amount of new staff to the area will be a boost for Kogarah?
