"Brickbats" to whoever thought that reducing the shire's street sweeping cleaning capacity was a good idea.
Glad to see common sense prevail; pity it took "a 71 per cent increase in dissatisfaction" for the penny to drop.
However, many "bouquets" to our council's environmental protection unit.
Yesterday (January 7), I reported to the council's inquiry line about dumped rubbish, including two large glass fish tanks, that had been thrown into a nearby reserve which I walk past in the morning.
Knowing that the glass could spark a bushfire, I asked for urgent action.
This morning I noted the rubbish had been removed and this was followed up by a phone call from Christine Holevas from the unit advising me of such.
Apparently she and her partner were investigating my report, realised the danger and immediately cleaned it up themselves.
It turned out that the two fish tanks were actually one very large one that had broken in two, shattering glass everywhere.
Thank you Christine (and partner); your prompt action more than likely averted a fire.
