A major police operation is under way in the Shoalhaven after a dramatic armed robbery in Sanctuary Point.
It is understood two armed robbers held up the Sanctuary Point store at about 6.15pm with a pistol before forcing the 49-year-old manager to get into a blue SS Commodore and drive to the other IGA store he also manages in St Georges Basin.
The robbers took cash from both stores before driving off with the manager, who was later let out of the vehicle on Turpentine Road.
Both stores had just finished busy trading on Australia Day.
Acting Superintendent Detective Inspector Chris Chaner said the man was shaken and had sustained minor injuries during the ordeal.
He and other witnesses were interviewed in the car park of the St Georges Basin IGA before he was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital.
"The vehicle we are looking for is registration BPM-07G and that's a blue SS Commodore station wagon and we're advising anyone who might see that vehicle not to approach it," Acting Superintendent Chaner said.
