Deana Martin, daughter of legendary American singer and actor Dean Martin, is touring Australia to sing songs from the Great American Songbook and share memories of her famous father.
"It's thrilling for me to bring my show to Australia," Martin said.
"I'll sing a lot of songs that my dad made famous and songs by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Bobby Darin, Ella Fitzgerald — so many timeless classics."
Martin said she learnt a lot from her father's famous friends, listing nights at home singing Christmas carols with Rosemary Clooney and getting singing tips from Sinatra.
"When I'm on stage I'll have a moment where I think: 'Gee, that's Dad' or 'Frank taught me that' — you'll think I'm weird, but in those moments I feel their presence"
"Frank taught me about phrasing and breathing in my singing, and he told me that as you grow, a song grows with you, and you won't sing it the same again — that's why he was always re-recording his own songs," she said.

Martin has recorded four albums and written a book — Memories are Made of This: Dean Martin Through His Daughter's Eyes — and will sample all in her show, wearing a "beautiful gown — with sparkles".
"It's mainly about the music and the songs, but there will be stories and wonderful memories," she said.
In each of her shows, Martin selects three volunteers to sing backup with her on stage and also leads the whole room in a rendition of her father's most famous tune: That's Amore.
"I've been blessed with my father's name — I'm Deana Martin — and these shows do make me feel closer to him."
