Mortdale man arrested for abuse, assault
A Mortdale man, 42, has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer at Sutherland station on Sunday.
Sutherland police were called to the station at 4.50pm after a man was reported to be verbally abusing people.
When officers approached the man he assaulted a male officer and attempted to grab hold of his firearm.
He was arrested and taken to Sutherland police station where he was charged with assaulting police and offensive language.
He will appear in Sutherland Court on February 19.
