Twenty-two candidates have nominated for the four electorates covering St George in the state election which will be held on March 28.
Nominations closed at midday today (Thursday), and returning officers conducted a draw for positions on the ballot paper at 2pm.
Liberal Party candidates fared well in the draw in the marginal seats of Rockdale, Oatley and Kogarah.
John Flowers (Rockdale) and Mark Coure (Oatley) drew the number one position.
Labor received a big boost in Rockdale when Michael Nagi, the Liberal-leaning Independent on Rockdale Council, did not nominate after earlier saying he would almost certainly contest the seat again.
Mr Nagi said after the close of nominations his ‘‘last minute decision’’ not to run followed a recent ‘‘health scare’’.
At the 2011 election, Mr Nagi, running an as Independent, captured a significant proportion of the Labor vote.
The Greens and Rev Fred Nile’s Christian Democratic Party have a candidate in each seat.
